Enjoy abundant harvests for decades to come!
Growing fruit trees can be incredibly rewarding: you plant once, and you’ll have harvests for years and decades to come.
But before you plant, it’s best to plan!
If you dream of having fruit trees that are abundant, ecological, and low-maintenance, Helen Atthowe will show you how to get your fruit tree project started on the right foot, and how to care for it over the years!
Here's what you'll learn in the workshop:
Delicious & disease-resistant fruit tree varieties
There are *so* many fruit tree varieties to choose from, and whichever ones you choose, you’ll have for decades! Helen will share her top picks, with a focus on tasty varieties that are naturally disease-resistant, from apples to pears to peaches!
How to choose trees that best suit your space
You’ll learn other key considerations for selecting fruit tree varieties that will flourish. Will your trees have enough space? Will they enjoy your climate? Do you need a second tree for cross-pollination? You’ll have answers to these questions and more, so you can choose fruit tree varieties with success!
Preparing your soil and planting your trees
Did you know that you can prep your soil in advance so your fruit trees will have a healthier start in life? Helen will show you strategies for improving your soil fertility, and how to plant your trees!
Pruning for better yields
By removing certain branches, your trees will have access to more sunlight and better airflow, which ultimately increases your fruit yields and leads to less disease! Helen will show you the pruning techniques she uses for her own trees.
Ecological approaches to insects and disease
Helen will share how disease and insect damage can be naturally reduced by creating a diverse ecological system, without using any pesticides.
Veganic fertilization for your trees
You’ll learn vegan organic fertilization techniques for your fruit trees (without any animal-based fertilizers), from how to fertilize young trees during planting, to long-term veganic fertilization strategies… including how to grow your own fertilizer right beside your trees!

Learn from a veganic grower with over 35 years of experience!

Helen Atthowe is the leading expert in veganic fruit trees and orchards.
She and her late husband operated a certified organic orchard in California where they pioneered no-till methods for raising apples, peaches, and other tree fruits without the use of any type of pesticides.
She has also lived in an off-grid cabin on a permaculture homestead, and has run fruit and vegetable farms in both Oregon and Montana.
With a Master’s Degree in Horticulture from Rutgers University and over 35 years of experience in the field, Helen brings both a scientific understanding and a unique level of hands-on experience.
Her book “The Ecological Farm” shows the techniques that Helen has developed to grow her own veganic fertilizer while working in greater harmony with the natural world.
Helen currently gardens and farms on her new 5-acre farm in Western Montana, where she is starting a new orchard!
